I'm 90% sure i'll be swapping an LSx motor into my 72 GMC next summer. Now i know it's not a malibu but you guys have some good information on this swap so i figured i'd ask here anyways. I want to run a new electronic automatic overdrive behind it (a 4l60E or 4l80E...not sure of the differences yet) and my question is about the harness. I've looked at some on jegs and whatnot and they have harnesses for the motor but who makes one to plug into the transmission too? Would i just be better off salvaging the one from the truck? I kinda want to just buy new to eliminate all the uneeded circuits of a truck harness but i guess if i can't i can't... So anyone make a harness that'll run the motor and the transmission?

OR should i just run an older style transmission like a 700R? This will be by no means a race vehicle just a daily driver.

Thanks in advance for your replies.

There are companies that make harnesses to swap an LS+trans. Painless is the first that comes to mind, but I have seen others.
