I think it has been brought up before, but I guess I'm slow. Have you guys read or checked out the L92 heads for LSx motors? 15-degree aluminum small-block cylinder heads that flow 320 cfm for about a $1000 complete including offset rockers and stronger springs. You could build a pump gas SBC making 600 hp without breaking a sweat. Just think about the potential of a turbo/EFI setup! Wonder what kind of HP the "stock" 6.0 cast iron block can handle?

Here's a good article with a "junkyard" 6.0 LSx motor with cam swap and carb setup: http://www.carcraft.com/techarticles/ccrp_0705_chevrolet_ls2_l92_cylinder_heads/index.html

from my understanding they have a 10:1 compression ratio.

That is an easy one.

You need a good rods and pistons.
Nitride the crank.
And a single 80+mm large turbo.

With this set-up and an iron block you
can eclipse the 1K without a problem.
And drive it every day.

The only issue is the stock LS-x based
motors are lacking head bolts.
Only 4 per cylinder!
If you really want more than 1k get the
GMPP LSX block with the extra block holes.

The GMPP LSX block is nice...but this is what you use when you want the best and the baddest...
