I have a 83 El Camino with a 75' Chevy 350 dropped in her. We recently had to do a full rebuild on the motor and can't get her to start for anything. My question, when the motor was out we deleted the computer and wiring that went along with it. The distributor is original to the car I believe and has a pigtail with connector that comes off the back. This is no longer plugged in, what is this plug for? I still have spark at the plugs, but am curious as to what this plug is/was for?

So the el camino must have had ESC (electronic spark control) ? The ESC distributor can still be used without the computer. There are 2 wires in the ESC plug that need to be joined together. Then leave the rest unhooked. I just can't remember which 2 but if you do a online search you will find the answer.
