i'm rebuilding that harness that deals with the a/c pressure switch, fast idle etc that oe wire that comes from the starter with the fuse able link that makes the engine side of that connector doesn't look all that big after the insulation is stripped off.after the wire is stripped it looks 14 gauge @best.am i being fooled by the size of the wire insulation to think its bigger? i thought i was bigger.the oe wiring diagrams lists it as a 3.0 wire and i can't make out what that translates to.any ideas on this or am i just over thinking again?

3.0 is the metric wire gage. It's the same as 12 AWG. The 2 fusible links coming off the "hot" side of the starter solenoid are indeed smaller- 1.0/16 AWG- so they melt above a certain amperage draw. They're spliced to the 3.0/12 AWG wires that feed the rest of the circuit.
