I fired the car up for the first time and everything looks and sounds great. I do have one small issue. I'm running the 2241 Hooker Super Comp Headers, and the number 3 plug wire is right next to the header tube. Not touching, but close enough to melt the plug wire boot. I have 115 degree boots and short of wrapping the header tube I don't see a remedy. Am I wrong in thinking that there are shorter spark plugs? What are you guys doing to handle this issue?

TIA, Don

Accel makes a short plug for headers. Not the best but they work.

Ordered a set from Jegs today. I was wondering what everyone else was doing about this since the 2241 Hooker Super Comps are the only box header availible for Big Blocks in a G-Body.

I'm using 2455's with my big block along with a bunch of others here.

I'm gonna call Hooker tomorrow. All wires are free and clear with the exception of the #3 tube and the boot is about 1/8" or less away from the #3 header tube. I can't understand why hooker didn't clean up that design flaw as there is no way to get any boot away from the tube. I may have to do some fab work to the header tube for clearance. Kinda sux since I paid $565 for a set of painted super comps.

I use standard autolite plugs with MSD street fire wires, they bend to the angle that you need. Haven't had any issues for 3 years, and no protectors over the wires

Ngk br6sf are short and half the cost of those accel "header" plugs. For those looking for a cheaper alternative.

I honestly don't know if these will work with the 2241's, but we used them on the old race tow truck & they worked great. They're 70 BBC Chevelle heat shields. I have a set I'm hoping to use on Madge.
