Anyone do a-b-a testing with a tapered spacer /HVH sucker?

When I dynoed my motor, we tried different carbs/manifolds and spacers.

The best numbers we got with a 4150 on a Victor were with a 1" 4 hole spacer on top of a open 1" spacer.

Since that was my best, I picked up a 2" HVH super sucker thinking it is "equal" to the 2 stacked spacers.

Anyone done any back to back testing of the HVH or other tapered spacer vs. non-tapered?

Dynoed my 468 with HVH 1" and 2" spacers. Gained 27 hp with the 1". The 2" hurt the numbers. Was really surprised that 1" made that much difference.

Thought I would share.

Just got off the phone with Dean at Nickerson Performance (they built the 4150 carb).

He uses the Canton version because of pricing and found little difference in performance.

He suggested it will only get a few HP compared to the 2 stacked.

He also said the big numbers spacer companys advertise are vs. no spacer at all.

Kinda mirrors what you guys are saying.

I have a generic 1" 4 hole tapered I will throw in the pit kit just in case I can test.

racecar77, what are the specs on your combo? Want to see if mine is similar.

Will run on pump gas, but I blend fuel to be safe. Heads are limiting factor in making more HP. Made 587 HP and 563 ft. lbs. on dyno. Best of 10.17 @ 132 w/ 1.40 60ft. on old tires. Should go 10.? on new slicks this year. Lee
