Hey guys...

I am wanting to buy another set of rear Draglites to put slicks on for the Bu. I was thinking of a 15x8 with a 28x10.5 slick and a 4 inch backspace. Do you think that will fit ok? I have a 70 Chevelle 12 bolt rear.

thanks
CHRIS

A 10.5 slick is gonna be a tight fit unless your car is jacked up or you have wheel well mods. 4.5 bs on the 15x8 with a 28x9 is what I had. 5" worked a little better. Welds I think only come in half sizes.....5.5, 4.5, and such.

28x10 slick is allmost identical in size as a 28x12.5 et street and Phillip had them on his Bu with a 15x8 weld with 3.5 backspace

3.5bs with a late chevelle 12bolt won't work. I have the same rear. Ride height and amount of wheel well, frame notch, and fender lip roll plays a big part. I barely notched the frame and rolled the lip. 5.5bs welds with either a 28x9 slick or 275/60 radial(see picture below). Fender sits over tire about an inch.(low). With car raised off the tire an inch or more, I ran a 4.5bs welds with 28x12.5 et streets and 28x10.5 slicks. The stock rears are and inch or more narrower per side. 8)

For comparitive purposes, I had 15x8 welds, 28x10.5 M/T slick, 4.5 b/s on a stock width rear. Ran a spacer to give me just a shade under 4" b/s, and had ample clearance in all directions with a lower than stock ride height.

Does anyone have any measurements on the width from from drum to drum of the Chevelle 12 bolt rear. I just want to make sure before I order these wheels that the things are gonna fit. I can compare my rearend with the measurements and then I will know. My car does have the lips rolled but no frame work. I would rather stay away from notching.

thanks guys

You are right. From what I can tell Welds only come in half sizes.
