I'm looking for any help and tips for putting a std deck BBC in an 80 malibu. The kicker is the car has a/c and I'd like to keep it. So from what I've heard that limits valve covers, but I do want to use roller rockers. Does anyone have any experience with this? Also I've heard hooker a-body headers semi work, but how does a raised port head affect this? Thanks.

Depending on the gaskets & valve covers it may fit or you just need to get short poly locks.

Short poly locks were on the list. I am trying real hard to make this fit with stock valve covers. I have heard of a few potential rockers that may fit. I really want to build a fairly strong engine and KEEP the A/C. Lots of people just take out the A/C or have a non A/C heater box.

My rockers are the old design Pro Magnums and I'm running an OEM A6 compressor setup. My engine guy has done stock covers with roller rockers before that fit with a thick gasket, but I think it might not with the clearance limits caused by the compressor bracket.

I ran Earson roller rockers with short poly locks with stock height valve covers and regular gaskets. It was very tight but it fit and I ran it like that for several years. I only recently removed the HVAC box now that I'm more into drag racing.
