Could be a monkey see monkey do thing. Almost all of the Pro Mods and other high Hp. cars are using them. But if you do some research you will find they are good for that type of application using forced induction and gobs of NOS,the tubing length is short on them. For the average natural asperated non NOS engine you will not have tubes long enough for a tuned system.

My reason was I was tired of replacing tubes after wheelies ... Went fender exits then no problem. But I had a high nitrou motor.

Here is a perfect example of what I said before. On the Yellow Bullet,Stock susp. section. Title New stainless G body headers. They are nice looking nice welds . But they are not tuned headers ,The tubes go from long to short.

We put some Schoenfeld fender exits on a second gen camaro a couple of years ago, fit was good for the price, just be careful cutting the holes, spark plug access is good and we used a pair of vibrant mufflers (that don't quiet anything). Like posted above no more crushed pipes but sound took some getting used to. I will try to get some pics even though it is a mullet not a G-body.

like said above, its saves crushed collectors, It will also make starter R&R easier, oil filter replacement a breeze, and spark plug access will be alot more forgiving when changing plugs in the pits.......plus all the cool kids have them....lol....My car is loud as it is with the schoenfeld 1 7/8" under car exit headers on a supercharged big inch small block, but I want the starting line guy to feel my rolling burnout....lmao. I bought the schoenfeld 1 7/8" fender exits but havent installed them yet, as soon as I get time Im gonna throw them in and see what happens. Ill throw some pics up on here afterward, prally be a couple weeks er so.

It all depends on Who made the headers.I do Not anticipate having any Crushed collectors or tubes, I made my own. 10 Sec bu does not have a problem either and he has the big round collector mufflers on his.
It all boils down to you get what you pay for. $$$ .
