i have an 80 malibu 4 door that had a 305. The 305 is long gone and i have a couple 4.3 V6 engines i could swap in to keep thing on the road. Does anyone know if the motor mounts are in the same place on the 4.3 relative to the distance from the transmission? Also does anyone know if the intake manifold from the chevy 3.8 V6 (used in iraqi taxi) will bolt on a 4.3 ? Also does the 4.3 TBI engine have the different intake bolt angle ? I don't want to waste my time if this swap is going to cost a bunch of money are extra work. I have a 92 4.3 in an S10 4x4 that i could use as well as a 4.3 vortec in a 2000 Jimmy 4x4. Not looking to use the EFI. Just looking for simple and cheap.
Brian

The 229 has the mount cups on the frame and the rubber mount bolted to the block and they are different then SBC stuffm I can look back and see if I have any pictures when I swapped to my 267 to see if it shows where the v6 cups bolted to the crossmember when I get some free time to dive thru pictures

I might even have my 229 engine mounts for the frame side. I'll look when I get a chance.

The Vortec heads I believe are like the SBC Vortecs, similar design and more power... not sure how concerned you are with it but I'd say it's worth looking into.

True story. That's one of the things I had planned to do when/If I ever get around to building one. Good luck finding an intake though. Only one I have found for a 4 bbl, is a marine cast iron one . That's for the vortec. Your results may vary , lol.
