Anyone know where to get the correct clips to attach the B Pillar chrome trim? I have no idea what they are even supposed to look like, since they were not on my car when I bought it. I have the trim now, just need to figure out how to attach it. Thanks

Is it a Landau model? I thought the reg coupe just use screws.

Not a Landau. The studs are on the pillar for the clips. I believe the Landaus wrap around and screw in with the weather strip trim.

Sounds like you have a base Malibu. The Malibu Classic just hook on and are secured with the roofrail weatherstrip channel at the front.

The trim is held on with screws. Non -landau had 2 pieces per side. I could text or email you a couple photo's if needed

Pm sent for the pictures. The trim I have is held on with clips, there are studs on the Pillar like the ones that the windshield trim clips attach to and there are no holes in the trim where a screw would go.
Thanks

The base Malibus had a clip on narrow molding which does not completely cover the pillar. Malibu Classics (which all factory-built Landau cars are) are the cars that used the screw-on pillar moldings.

For the OP, it would probably be a lot easier to convert to the Classic pillar moldings, as there seem to be MANY more classics than base cars. The studs can be twisted off with pliers if you decide to do the conversion.

I have a base car, but really don't want to pull the moldings to get a picture of the clips because, well, who knows if I can get more to reinstall them.

Thanks Ribbedroof, that would make sense. Mine must have been the base model with the thin trim.

If the VIN starts 1AT it's a base Malibu

VIN starting 1AW is a Malibu Classic

When I converted mine from a Landau to a coupe w/narrow trim I retained the pillar pins
except for one that somehow was removed. I drilled and attached that clip with a small flat head screw. I searched high and low for the clips and finally found some that worked. I believe I had extra but will need to look and see if I can find the correct ones without removing the trim again. I believe I found them at a Keystone paint/body supply store. Still looking for em?

I'll email the pictures to you. I do have a Malibu Classic, skinny post. I was not aware of a 3rd style so I might have something different.

This is the base car B pillar...the black portion is the actual pillar, which is covered by the Malibu Classic aluminum molding, and the plastic Landau applique.

As you can see, there is a narrow bright molding on the rear 2/3 of the pillar, there are no screws holding it on.

X2^...... This is the clip I believed I used. Can't be sure as the car is still in storage. Maybe measure the back side to side opening. I saved two sets of smaller clips after my build....these and a narrower set, ones I used for my rocker panel molding. I've got a bunch. If you think they'll work, PM me your address and I'll stick some in the mail for you. Steve
