I'm not positive but i think it was seam sealer around the hinges from the factory.all i remember was it was cracked and falling off.guessing it was a lacquer based also.i could be wrong.if i was gonna use something that wasn't going to get hard and crack if i adjusted the hinges/doors I'd go with a version of 3m's strip caulk.there's cheaper versions of it out there too but that's the most popular. it's a sealer that that doesn't get hard it stays pliable so you can work it into different areas.comes in 12" lengths and is very easy to use

I used the strip caulk around my heater box, sticky stuff.
