I have a 80 Bu and want to put sport mirrors on, Right now it has the single chrome one on the drivers side. question is Do you use the same hole as the chrome one or do I have to make new one up towards the front of the door. It seems the chrome one is back some about 14 to 15 inches from the front of the door.

The 1986-1988 mirror requires holes further towards the front of the door.

I forgot about the "new" Monte/Elky sport mirrors. I was only thinking about Malibu mirrors.

The later style mirrors are also mounted higher up on the door, and forward. I would recommend using a reinforcement plate inside the door to help secure the mirrors.
