Maiden voyage with the new clutch yesterday dancin_banana.gif dancin_banana.gif dancin_banana.gif

No pictures, but I got the dash back in & everything together, more or less. Since I bought the car I never had a working dome light (under-dash lights worked fine with the dimmer switch), that was something else I was able to check off the list.

Today I got the blinkers & reverse lights working, turns out was just a blown fuse  The little tab between the turn signal lever and switch must've also been in the wrong spot because it operates much easier now (was quite difficult to move for either left or right). There was also a 'clunk' from the rear suspension that I believed was due to a missed bolt/nut that wasn't torqued, turns out I was right.

Out on another 'test run' to make sure everything works right

Ran it WOT in 2nd-3rd up to probably 70 or so (never have found a speedo gear combo to work with my setup, said I was going 55, closer to 75 probably)... my dad said "that was fun" O:)

Haven't done much lately, riveted a piece of sheetmetal over the swiss-cheesy passenger floorboard for now. I was racking my brain trying to find some cheap, used, semi-presentable carpet in the area to put in and run the Saginaw until the wedding, then when I swap the T5 in (may go to a T56 someday, who knows) put some new carpet in. Fiance says 'eh, it don't need carpet' so I guess I'll put something like some bedliner type stuff down.

It made its first actual trip (~40 miles) without much incident, besides getting used to a new clutch  Can't say I was surprised far as the drivetrain, but nothing fell off so that's good. I seemed to have forgotten that I swapped a semi-seized clutch fan from my '92 pickup on, so that started squawking on the way home. Yesterday I drove it to the car wash to clean all the pack rat crap off, and I think it finally seized for good. I have an electric fan already pre-wired that was used for a short while on the '81 I used to have, so I'll probably put that on in the next few days.

Thanks & thanks & thanks :)

I finally got the electric fan on and it's wired enough to run off a relay and adjustable temp switch (probe in the radiator fins), but the relay always has power right now so I just adjust it a little after turning the car off to keep the fan from draining on the battery.

Haven't done much else with it though :?

Got hitched yesterday :D It still hasn't hit either of us yet, probably just because we've already been together 6 1/2 years.
