Jeff, good to see you back at it!

Last thing I remember about your car was that it was for sale. Several years ago. Probably around the same time I came close to selling mine lol

I actually sold it Bill. To a kid in the Air Force. I checked up on him twice a year. In the 3rd year I started to pester him to sell it back to me. He caved and I bought it back. In the three years he had it the suspension was upgraded and he notched the frame. Drove it maybe 1000 miles and garage kept it. This is the last time I am doing this. Once the car is done Im doing the Hot Rod Power Tour long haul. Probably in 2020 or 2021.

Awesome! Hey, if you decide to set a goal for the 2019 Power Tour let me know. I'm going to do at least the first half of the week with a few other friends and their cars. Glad you got it back.

It Runs. Started on the first try, fired up instantly. New FiTech fuel injection system does not like the open headers. After a couple minutes it learned that the O2 sensor is right at the collector dump and it made a bold adjustment. The 20.4 AFR made it run pretty bad. I honestly am surprised it ran at all. The fuel delivery on the throttle body is pretty impressive too. I have the Mean Street and it tried to deliver enough fuel at idle to make 800 hp. 8 injectors running 100% duty cycle!! Pretty sure it needs the oil changed already.

Awesome! O2 sensors need pipe afterwards so that the exhaust actually travels over & thru the sensor to give a proper reading...

First drive went wrong. Backed out of driveway and drove right back in. Timing somehow got retarded. Must not have tightened the distrib hold down amd was Bad enough to light a plug wire on fire. The key lock got stuck in the on position. I had to disassemble the steering column to remove it. Not even sure how the car was able to shut off. Exhaust is screwed up and the Fuel injection system hates the full exhaust. The clutch engages right off the floor. Brakes didnt bleed worth a damn. BAH!!!!
Gonna take a break before I burn the car to the ground. It did spin the tires going into the driveway!!
All the problems of a new build and the lack of patience to iron them out. No more rushing.

Take your time, it will all be worth it in the end. Walk away, have a beer or twelve, and come back to it next week. It will still be there.

Thursday I took the car to get the exhaust done properly.
Car is on the road. Friday I drove in and out of the driveway. Worked out a few kinks.
Saturday I drove around the neighborhood. More kinks removed.
Sunday I drove across town and back. More kinks to iron out.

The Fitech fuel injection is amazing. I did the basic setup on the Mean Street 800 and then modified only 2 settings. My warm idle and idle AFR. What a great system. Works fantastic out of the box. Only thing I dont like is return to idle is very slow. But this too can be tuned out. On the Fitech box is says " Never buy a carburetor again" I dont mind if I dont.
