Not enough info for compression - need to know piston spec's. The cylinder heads are large chamber and unless you have flat or high dome pistons you are @ stock compression and if you used a 400 gasket it could hurt you more. I hope you changed you valve springs cause you don't want to use stock springs with that cam. You failed to give the rest of your set-up and if you look at your cam spec's you should have 3.73 gears, 2800 stall converter, & 10/1 compression

Yep, not enough Info.
Need Piston style? cc volume?
Deck Height? stock would be .025", a .015" Shim gasket may work & give you .040" Quench.
Gasket thickness? 400 gasket is too thick & bore is larger than a 350 gasket..

Piston styles>> http://webpages.charter.net/beckracing/slvpg29.htm #1 & #3 are good for creating Quench, the others have poor Dish designs & create crappy Quench/Squish + low compression with large chamber Heads.
Pay attention to Comp. Ht.= Compression Height, also, many Pistons have 1.540" Comp. Ht. which will drop the Piston below the Deck another .020", Ok if you Deck the Block .020", compared to Factory Comp.Ht. which is 1.560".

My pistons look like number 1 in that list. I know they are flat and only have 2 reliefs. I gotta get the part number for that headgasket because it fits the bore almost perfect. Im gonna guess and say the block is factory height. Ill try to get more info

4.040" Bore X 3.48" Stroke.
76cc Chamber, 5cc 2VR Piston.
.039" X 4.190" Gasket, .025" Deck. = 8.74Cr w/.064" Quench
.015" Shim gasket = 9.18Cr w/.040" Quench
