#'s on gears

Quick question for anyone that can help.Aren't the numbers on the ring gear and the pinion gears suppose to be the same?I had a set of Richmond gears and they both matched pinion/ring was the same.Reason I'm asking is I received a set of gears Richmond and the #on the pinion is 80-7850-1 then the Richmond logo then a 1 space 8620.Then the ring gear # is 80-8850-1 then letter E Richmond logo 01 space 8620.Thanks for any help.John

was able to call Richmond gear which has been bought by anyother company but still will carry the Richmond name on some sets.
