Door latch

I had planned on using the door latches from one of my parts cars. The latch looked identical to mine at first, but the lever attachment for the locking rod (inner) does not even come close to mine. It is very different and will not work. I know the latches on my '79 are original. Is there more than on type used on G-body's? I will be looking for another set of latches since mine are badly worn. Am I stuck with overpriced NOS?

I have come across the same thing for my El Camino. I would up having to order a NOS set myself. It sucked, but that was all I could find.

Guys, I have latches for three sets of doors. The original ones off my 80 Bu, and latches out of two other sets that I bought for the doors. It may be a little while until I can get the doors hung on the car, but if you can't find a latch by then, I'll be more than glad to help out and send you one if it will work. I hadn't noticed any differences in the latches. I'll probably use the ones that came out of my Bu doors, the other doors are off of El Caminos. I got all the guts out of the first set that wound up being junk.
