To support around 500hp to the rear wheels, what pump is needed? The Walbro 255 enough to feed that? If so, is there a Walbro 255 that is a direct replacement for the GN sending unit?

The Wlabro 340 is a direct replacement, but like BoostedbuLQ9 stated, get the Racetronix kit with the upgraded power wire, that way @ wot your pumps voltage wont drop. http://www.racetronix.com/RX-G7-FPKG.html

That Racetronix kit looks like a good idea. My battery is in the trunk, thinking it would be better to wire directly to the battery (through a relay), that way it is a shorter line than going from battery in trunk, to alternator & back to the tank.

If you look at the exploded view you will see that the harness has connections for the alt and sending unit. It doesnt connect directly to the battery. I would connect it as suggested...

That post on the alternator goes directly to the positive side of the battery.
